School of Rock – Day 14 – Voice, Preparation, and Presentation

SUMMARY

I spent the first part of the day finishing songs and spent the last part finishing my podcast project

LEADERSHIP ACTIVITY

Andreas and I finished both our songs. We bounced them out but we still had to bleep one part out

Leadership Project (SMART Goal Evidence)

  1. Welcome to show and tell!
  2. Embed media as evidence of your completed work (SHOW)
  3. Write what you completed. Write it as if the person reading has no idea what you were working on for the past week. (TELL)
  4. Delete Mr. Le Duc’s instructions – yes, these instructions – yes the instructions you are reading right now!

PRACTICE ROOM (GUITAR LESSONS)

During this period Andreas and I spent our time mixing and mastering both of our songs. We also added some last minute touches to our arrangements of the songs. Most of the mixing was done on the vocals to make them fit better into the mix.

CLASSROOM (THEORY & ANALYSIS)

Andreas and I spent this time mastering and bouncing out our songs. However, we will have to go back on one of our songs and bleep out some swear words.

LAB (THEORY PRACTICED)

I helped Andreas get his mic project into Logic Pro because the audio file would not import. After we solved the problem, I started working on my own mic test project.

OUTSIDE (CREATIVITY & THE BRAIN)

Great presentations have many ingredients from the structure of the visuals to the delivery. But what makes it all work from voice, eye contact, word choice, body language, the visuals used, etc. Let’s take a look at the act of successfully presenting or pitching an idea to reveal these ingredients.

  • Go for a walk and think about what these videos and the slideshow mean to you.

I worked on my mic test project in Soundtrap and then brought it into Logic to add some more plugins (compressor, denoiser, very light EQ).

STUDIO (SONGWRITING)

Learning about the bridge music project was pretty cool. I might do it in the fall or spring, not sure though.

CONTROL ROOM (RECORDING & MIXING)

WHAT I LEARNED and PROBLEMS I SOLVED

  • Tell your daily story here!  Highlight what you learned and enjoyed most and at least one problem you solved. Problem-solving is one of the most important skills you need in life. Employers want to know HOW you get stuff done as much as WHAT you got done – AND THEN DELETE THESE WORDS!

TODAY’s ACTIVITY EVALUATION

  • Give feedback on the class Content and Process
    • Participation will be part of your leadership project due at the end of the course
  • Fill in the Daily Activity Evaluation
